Some people leave too early. Some people leave memories behind that will last a lifetime. For me Tim will be one of them. He was a special person, combining deep knowledge and brilliant competence with integrity and modesty. An amazing combination. I admired him as a professional, and above all as a person. In the last few years we worked together at the Companion Volume project for the Council of Europe. He was inspiring and keen, sometimes funny, always helpful in a natural way, and much more than that. During a walk in Strasbourg we shared our ideals on the power of language. Languages emancipate, languages bring people and cultures together. We were not out to save the world, but we wanted to get things done, in the best possible way. I am sure he has given a personal contribution for a better society. I am going to miss him very much. Daniela
