English Teacher

When me and Tim were English teachers back in Brighton, in 2002 there was a point when we were both a little worried about the prospect of getting a "proper " job. Both of us didn't have skills ( on paper ) or qualifications ready made for an obvious career at that time and we were on or around that dreaded age of 30, which seemed so old!

I remember being in the North Lanes and having a long discussion with Tim on this topic over a few beers. What always stays with me is when Tim told me " where there is a will, there is a way". I didn't really think too much of this at the time, but I think it was a good example of Tim's quiet self-belief. Having worked in the English language world for many years, I always admired the way Tim went from a English teacher to making a career out of it - I don't know anyone else who did that.

Once we did eventually get a " proper" job, we always looked back fondly on those days in Brighton- teaching English in "Berlitz" school, which we often joked was the worst teaching job ever!!!!
